Constructs &Art
      md-1

These constructs that I design and build are a big part of my creative exploration. Unlike architecture, they often serve other functions and purposes and provide a creative outlet for me as an artist. Most of these constructs are furniture pieces that I have been building since my days at SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture). I find great enjoyment in both designing and building furniture because it serves both a functional need and provides visual interest within a space. I often design furniture with contrasting materials because of the opportunity for a material dialogue to take place. When two materials contrast each other, a dialogue begins between the two materials: each expressing their qualities in contrast to the other.

I also very much enjoy drawing and sketching as an outlet of self expression. The drawings often become the inspiration for future constructs. Drawing is an excellent way to communicate thoughts and ideas while exploring different medium to draw with.

My ultimate desire as an artist is to write and direct a screen play because this truly encompasses all aspects of design and medium exploration. It incorporates film, set design, lighting, physical interplay and discourse and becomes a composition of expression and entertainment.
