6. This photograph shows the stair of great proportion arising out of the garage and basement below. During the design process, the importance of the stair as a design element became evident. The removal of the separating beam above allowed the stair to come into the kitchen and be a part of the overall experience. This photo also shows the wonderful textures and colors of the kitchen. The rough foundation wall below transitions into the soft textured plaster walls & ceiling of the main kitchen. The bench, chalkboard and phone area serve as a mini hub for the everyday kitchen needs. Click for more.
